.::Bishop:.

Codename: Bishop
Real Name: Unknown
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 210 pounds
Group Affiliation: X-Men
Previous Affiliations: X.S.E.
First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #282
Known Allies: Ororo Monrue, Rogue, Professor Charles Xavier
Known Relatives: Shard (sister, deceased, but now a hologram)
Known Enemies: Trevor Fitzroy, Mountjoy, Onslaught, Sabretooth, Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse

Powers: Bishop can absorb energy in any form and store it for use of a concussive energy blast. The limit to the amount of energy he can store is undetermined, but he has been able to absorb an energy blast that "no one could possibly survive" from Onslaught. He also can absorb various energy signatures at once, shown in Uncanny X-Men #304.

Origin: Little is known about Bishop's past. As a child, he grew up with his sister, Shard. They were found by X.S.E. agents, who had "adopted" them into their organization. While Bishop advanced in the ranks quickly, his sister surpassed him and became his commanding officer. However, Shard captured and taken control of by Emplates, who are energy vampires of the future. Bishop was forced to kill his sister, but was able to program her into a holoprojector. During one of Fitzroy's escapes, Bishop located the underground Morlock Tunnels, where he found the X-Men's ready room. There, he found a message that showed Phoenix (Jean Grey) telling Havok and Forge that they were under attack by their one of their own. However, the message was damaged and contained lots of gaps, making it impossible to make a definite conclusion.

When Fitzroy busted out of prision again, Bishop brought two of his officers with him into the past to kill Fitzroy and the other 93 prisoners that escaped into the past. Bishop found Fitzroy draining the life essenses of the Hellions, which lead him to find the X-Men while he was at it. He first though that they were frauds, but grew to realize they were the real thing. In Uncanny X-Men #287, Bishop joined X-Men Gold, but most of the other X-Men were weary of this time-traveling mutant. When he first saw the Gambit of the past, he attacked him and accused him of being the X-Traitor.

Storm acted as Bishop's "teacher" by educating him in the ways of the past. Usually, Bishop had to reminded that killing is not the way of the X-Men, but when Colossus nearly killed Trevor Fitzroy, Bishop had to keep the Russian powerhouse from taking one's life. When Legion took Storm, Iceman, Psylocke and Bishop into the past, Bishop was the only X-Man to survive the temporal wave that struck after Xavier was accidentally killed by Legion. He was a key factor in restoring the timestream and stopping the Age of Apocalypse. However, Bishop retained memories of the AOA, and has often reverted to the AOA persona. Due to his memories of the AOA, Bishop has become a target of the Sugar Man and Dark Beast. When Mr. Sinister deployed a mutation virus on a New York train, Bishop, Gambit, and Dark Beast (posing as Beast) stopped the virus, but were also captured by Sinister. Later, Bishop and Gambit assisted each other in escaping Sinister's lab, but it also revealed a connection between Sinister and Gambit.

Ever since Onslaught, Bishop has questioned his purpose in the past, since Xavier turned out to be the X-Traitor. Gladiator, of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, was able to reach Earth and "recruit" the help of Bishop and four of his mutant allies in the fight to save the Shi'ar. Bishop and Deathbird proved to be very capable warriors, showing some potential for a romantic relationship. On their trip back to Earth, the X-Men's shuttle was nearly destroyed by an incredibly large craft heading for the stargate. The X-Men reached Antarctica, while Bishop and Deathbird found themselves on Deathbird's own personal craft. Apparently, Deathbird has plans for Bishop to help her retake the Shi'ar empire for herself...
